This was an influential work in the 19th century and excerpts appeared in English in “The Present” and “The Spirit of the Age” alongside the anarchistic works of the era. The previous volume, "Equality," and more from Leroux can be found here: www.libertarian-labyrinth.org/pierre-lerou...

I'm behind on this year's projects, but the plan is to follow the work on "Justice" with the rest of the 1848-1850 journalism, with lots of additional material from the debates on the state, and a big collection of writings from the free credit projects, including a lot of little-known material.

There are a handful of book-length works published during his lifetime yet to translate or complete, plus a significant number articles. The published correspondence is largely untouched. The most interesting posthumous publications are done, but there are some minor ones to complete.

It appears in 1983 in an American Library Association glossary in what looks like a slightly different context — but I can also only access the Spanish translation.

Among the the lessons for those elsewhere is the fact that the propaganda necessary to sustain these levels of official violence is economically destructive and can create persistent problems of various sorts, as cities gaslight themselves into believing they are more troubled than they really are.

The city and state governments eventually realized that poisoning the city with chemical munitions wasn't a winning long-term strategy, but none of the powers that be have been able to let go of the narrative they built about a troubled downtown — with the consequence that trouble has persisted.
