Totally, but this also needs to scale such that it can be controlled by enterprise policies so that end users without administrative rights (yes, I went there) aren't able to compromise the ecosystem with unplanned updates, and the updates can be served from secure cache according to a testing plan.

I'm an enterprise admin. I don't want your software updating until *I* ask it to, because your software is a component of an ecosystem, and must behave itself and not update at a time that would impact the myriad of systems depending on it across many sites and time zones.
