A tricky thing about modern society is that no one has any idea when they don’t die.

Like, the number of lives saved by controlling air pollution in America is probably over 200,000 per year, but the number of people who think their life was saved by controlling air pollution is zero.

Thank you, Wisconsin!!!
Crawford: Today, Wisconsinites fended off an unprecedented attack on our democracy, our fair elections, and our Supreme Court.. Wisconsin stood up and said that justice does not have a price, our courts are not for sale

This.
Sen. Booker’s speech was a substantive and moral account of this moment. He did not read the phone book. He did not babble.
For 24 hours @booker.senate.gov laid out a detailed, damning, and critical narrative of truth, history, politics, morality, humanity.

What will you do?

We are not living in normal times. Watch this, share this, and then watch again and again. Take in the lessons and act accordingly.
You have to see this.

PoliticsGirl and her husband teamed up with the brilliant Timothy Snyder (author of On Tyranny) and the legendary John Lithgow to create something truly powerful. It’s important, it’s urgent—and it needs to be shared far and wide.

Opinion | Musk Said No One Has Died Since Aid Was Cut. That Isn’t True. (Gift Article)
A journey through the front lines of global poverty shows that when the world’s richest men slash aid for the world’s poorest children, the result is sickness, starvation and death.

Twitter is down. Tesla stock is plummeting. SpaceX’s rocket imploded.

All owned by the same guy who’s now in charge of our federal government.

@warnock.senate.gov: "There are moments when the democracy expands and there are moments when it contracts. We're in a moment of contraction. But our moral work is to stand up, show up... And often in those moments that you give birth to something that is even larger and bigger and better."

Is it safe to assume that Russia itself now has access to computers inside the US Treasury, IRS, FAA, FBI, CIA, etc.?

Thoughts?
One further thought after today’s Substack post: on tariffs, Trump has been *more* extreme than his campaign, despite urgent warnings from business. Any reason to believe he won’t go all-in on mass deportations? paulkrugman.substack.com/p/america-is...

"If you wanted to make us safe, pass gun reforms. Stop cutting Medicaid. Stop cutting cancer research. Stop cutting funds for veterans. That is what will make our cities safe."

The guy who stole money from kids with cancer, and as president gutted cancer research for children uses a child overcoming cancer as a political prop

This doesn’t get mentioned enough.
(1/3) It needs repeating: in 1994, Ukraine was persuaded to give up its nuclear weapons to Russia in return for the US, the UK, and Russia guaranteeing Ukraine’s sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity.

Small acts of kindness and resistance matter.

Every conversation, every moment of care and every refusal to give in adds up.

You don’t have to do everything.

Just do something.

For those who are considering ending your life -for any reason at all- please do not do it. The financial gain for your family, if any, is not what fam needs, m’friends. They need YOU. We do, too! Please keep the hope alive even if it’s tiny… it’s there! Stay with us, friends. ❤️🐮

I know there’s (intentionally) too much to think about politically, but please pay attention to what’s happening at state level across our country.
Just to clear up some confusion, Wisconsin Indivisibles have endorsed Susan Crawford — the Wisconsin-raised jurist who has dedicated her life to putting the people of her state first.

Early voting starts soon. Help us stop the MAGA takeover of the Wisconsin Supreme Court: indivisible.org/scowis2025
