This is the issue I have, is that essentially ALL of the legitimate uses of machine learning function nothing like an LLM, but they're still getting called AI because that's the buzzword. Training a computer to identify coral reefs and track their bleaching from satellite photos is a good use, 1/2

since it would take a human years to do it and apparently we're less accurate. BUT calling that technology AI (because that's what gets funding right now) means I now assume it's trash until I look into it further. (ignoring my raging hatred of the use AI for something that has no intelligence.) 2/2
