Great meet up today of our MI transcription team to plan work in the graveyard surrounding the former St John's Church in Newsome, now The Newsome Centre. There will be an exhibition of the work we are undertaking at Heritage Open Days at the church on Saturday and Sunday 13 and 14 September 2025.

We are looking forward to a new course starting tomorrow evening for seven more eager students - will they be bitten by the family history bug? We hope so!

We recently hosted Jan Hall with an organised visit to
@MuseumGolcar & Golcar Church. Her ancestor Joseph Hall lived in Cottage 22 on the museum site and John & Ann Hall are commemorated in stained glass in the Church hdfhs.org.uk/ancestral-to... #familyhistory

For the safety of both visitors and volunteers in these very icy conditions, we have decided to close the Root Cellar research room in Meltham for the rest of the week. We hope to re-open as usual on Monday 13 January at 2.00 pm.
