I’ve decided I don’t like the term “wish fulfillment” when used as a negative descriptor for a book, movie, etc.
Is it such a pathetic, simpleminded act, really, for artists to make something they wish to see or experience? Or is that, in fact, one of the central reasons anyone creates anything?💙📚

I teach art to adults and the number of times I have to un-teach not using references is sad.
To think you don’t need references is to be arrogant. You can’t know what things look like if you don’t look at them.

This is a step in the right direction, I think. I have very severe mental health struggles, especially on the autistic/ADHD side, and spirals of anxiety and depression. I worried I would do what I’ve always done, which is only try to take care of everyone else. But a good mod helps.
I had my first meeting in a peer support group and while there was a moment of awkwardness, it was so validating. People who understand a very specific type of struggle that you just can’t… word. No matter how much you want others to understand. I’m glad I tried it.

Steps of my latest painting! Pictures can’t quite capture it because I used four different types of paint. Acrylic markers and basic paint, metallic paint, glow in the dark, and glass color. Had to finish something for my art show next month 🫣

Would love opinions on this but like……….. isn’t the Gulf of America stuff just to make us out our energy into something that can be reversed and isn’t harming anyone? Shouldn’t be focus on the things that harm people? I’d love to know more if my thinking is off
