They asked for us to share the story of an Episcopal priest from Kenya, who is here legally, with a work permit, and serving in a Swahili language Episcopal Ministry in a local church. He was randomly pulled over, detained for 2 months for absolutely no reason, until finally deciding to self deport.

In other news, I went to a prayer vigil today organized by local Episcopal clergy outside a federal detention center in downtown Houston where ICE has detained some people.

Not vintage, but it’s one of my favorites because a few years ago one of the kids asked me if it was Joe Biden.

Okay y’all my online writer’s group is doing a book exchange and I’m 99.9 percent sure the person I was assigned does not use this website, so I’m going to share what I’m sending. Whomst among y’all has read this fever dream of a mid-century Texas novel?

We are tired in Texas. We are sad. We are angry. We need someone with zeal and verve and spark and brains and a great sense of humor to lead the fight. At least I do, if I'm going to try to get up off the mat yet again in 2026. I think Jasmine Crockett is the one to do it.

I used to walk my rambunctious beagle puppy 3 miles a day and it didn’t really put a dent in his energy. It basically just took him reaching two years old, he chilled, and now he’s a distinguished older gentleman of eight.

Let's shift the vibes around here. What are y'all reading this weekend? I'm blazing through A Man of Two Faces by one of my favorite writers working right now, Viet Thanh Nguyen #FridayReads

Okay now I remember that he put Tracee Ellis Ross in pants like this for the Met Gala and I defended it — probably because she is also on The List — I think they work better in the pink satin, FWIW

You haven't lived 'til you've seen the shock and then joy on the face of an overnight desk clerk at a Hyatt Place on a ring road in San Antonio when this fellow strolls through the lobby at 4 am on the way to answer nature's call.
