Lover of various nerdy things starting with, but not limited to, technology, space, anime, video games, vtubers, et al.
This makes me realize how bad my brainrot is, because this makes me think of the Long Man Japanese commercials. What's crazy is how those commercials were a whole ahh drama arc about the relationship of three people in love. No I'm not joking.

It’s interesting that the emojis show the earth from three angles 🌎 🌍 🌏 but not the fourth.

Though 🔵 is a fair approximation of what it would look like.

People underestimate the Pacific.

Had late Thanksgiving dinner with my parents and an old friend who I've somehow kept in touch with despite us both separating into two different military branches after high school. I don't think I've talked that long in my life.

Hot take, we need to remove social features from online magazines.

For those who have followed me recently, thanks. Just wanted to let you know that I'm taking a step back from social platforms for my own sake. There are a lot of concerning things going on right now, and we need to stay strong, but we also need to evaluate what we can do...

Don't get me wrong, politics is important, but sometimes I wonder why some humans have the tendency to hyper focus on things that cause them pain. Especially when they can't do anything about it.

Also here's a picture of my cat.

Also, I want to get this off my chest, and this is a neutral statement, nobody can predict the future. There are points in you life it may seem hopeless, and that's valid. What isn't valid is letting that hopelessness consume you. We all need to be there to see what tomorrow brings.

At this time I have been thinking about some old media that really resonates with me. The first is from Star Trek: TNG in the episode Peak Performance where Captain Picard says
“It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.” 1/2

Those coming from Twitter and new to federated social media please read up on it. I'm seeing a lot of new people here that don't know how FOSS differs from close platforms. The basics of it are that the important part isn't the platform, but the protocol behind it, which is open. #FOSS #Twitter

Good morning, afternoon, or night. I won't bother asking how things are going, but please remember that we are all facing tough times and everyone needs to be strong.

Low-key, America was kind of a frog slowly boiling in a pot. We became complacent from the constant back and forth, and we couldn't see how lost we were. Stay safe everyone. And I do mean everyone.

For everyone migrating here from Twitter, I just want to bring up that there is Threads and Mastadon as well. Not to discourage coming here, but to let it be known that there are still options outside of Twitter if it doesn't work out. I would also not recommed Threads if you don't like Zuck.

Hey you. Don't forget that you are worth it. You are valid. And you are not alone. It's okay to lean on your friends and family if you need to.

If I'm truly honest with myself, the USA was cooked as soon as anti-establishment art and music started to go away.

I don't know if it's because I live in the PNW or something like that, but I sometimes feel like I live in a different country than the rest of the USA. As a strait white man this is a relatively low stakes election, for anyone not in my position please be safe and form a safe community.

This is probably the only overtly political post I will do. I encourage all of those who feel a certain kind of way about recent events to watch this because it is not pure doomerism and actually offers support for those who need it right now. Stay safe out there.

Can I just say it's nice to see people, actual people, follow me and not bots. Not that I really care about followers in the first place, but it makes me more interested in following people back.

The more I use Bluesky the more I really like how much thought was put into everything. It may be behind in some ways compared to other platforms, but it is also one of the most user-centric platforms I've used. The versatility of the feeds function alone makes it amazing.
October 24, 2024 at 2:15 AM
It's really funny to me how many people are on Bluesky and don't really understand the difference between it and other social media networks in terms of how federation works. Just my opinion, but federated social media networks actually make things LESS volatile because it is inherently open. 1/2

For those new to Bluesky you should make use of the custom feeds function which creates a custom algorithm for you based on the feeds you follow. For example, if you are interested in art you can create a custom feed that follows tags or creators of art you like. 1/2

Ngl, I have not really paid attention to Bluesky, but some of the features they have over the other social networks are actually great. Being able to add separate tabs for categories I'm following is one of the simple QoL things I didn't know I wanted.
