Next time read the article. It states that it does not use mortgage payments. It uses a hypothetical rental price based on comparative rentals.
But rental prices do not reflect housing prices, which are rising faster, as the article YOU shared points out.

I confused PPI with purchasing power. Purchasing power includes all possible purchases, including a home value. CPI/Real value does not.
So everything else in this response is correct except that. So the fast rising prices in homes is not capture in CPI, but is in puchasing power.

In defense of genres. Genres give context and history. Sure, artists tend not to like them. But when I think of Grunge, I think Seattle. When I think of Alternative, I think, inter alia, of Athens. When I think of Impressionism, I think of Monet's study of light and, later, Van Gogh's alienation.
