Whether you’re religious or not, maybe now is the time to reappropriate and use language that liberal Christianity gave up on a long time ago: the devil, satan, hell, Antichrist, sin, judgment, the wrath of God, etc. (Not being exclusivist; I have no business speaking for other religions.)

We’ve criminalized speaking out against genocide. And even worse, we cheer for it—the criminalization and the genocide itself.

The “it was really about the economy” interpretation turned out to be misguided. Which plenty of people said after the election but were ignored and, at least in left academic circles, criticized for their lack of theoretical acumen (i.e. adherence to the party line).

My former employer thought I was too antagonistic toward evangelicalism. Not with respect to my students but in some of my published work. I fully accept the charge—but all of this is what happens when you play the placating game.

There’s no reason to mince words. A lot of people want fascism. It’s hard to conclude otherwise. And they want all that comes along with it, including the destruction of marginalized communities.

I’ll admit there’s some satisfaction in Biden’s pardon. But it’s an abuse of power and a stupid political move. As usual the Democrats are their own worst enemy.
