Availability and convenience of car parking is a key determinant of decision to drive a journey. Parking induces demand to drive. Tower Hamlets has some of the most dangerous roads and worst arising environmental health inequalities in London. This policy is harmful madness.

But self described local bus champions think it’s great.

Side point but there is also a dpd van that drives round Hackney like a maniac going straight through traffic filters with its number plate covered with tape. I’m trying to get a photo/video but I’ve not been fast enough.

They’re celebrating on X. It’s unbelievable the influence Stops still seems to have in Hackney. Either that or just Officers with the same ideology. In this location there are at least few buses so hopefully the number of interactions will be low but the design is basically just dangerous.

Is this good enough? Discuss…

Yes I saw that. It has (I think) only 1 relatively infrequent bus so perhaps they thought that was a more acceptable access compromise… more likely the ongoing ideology of Mr Stops & the same lack of real understanding or commitment to protected cycling in Hackney.

I don’t think Officers involved (consciously) see it that way. The sad thing is I think they actually believe this is a good outcome. They genuinely don’t seem to understand the scale of difference between ‘a bit better’ & sufficient for meaningful change. See also Pembury / recent LTN plans.

There has been real progress for some departments & change takes time to show but others are still below where they were over a decade ago in real terms & it feels like austerity which is why this nonsense lands. LG especially needs a more generous & sustainable funding solution for visible change.

I wish they’d do that last bit though!

Putting people on lists they don’t wish to be on seems to be a major Bluesky flaw. There are some sad troll accounts who seem to love doing this. All you can really do is block.
