I feel like you - and Yudkowskyif he believes what you think he believes - are getting the causality reversed. Rich, insane, antisocial tech bros believe in Roko's basilisk downstream of them being insane. Their actions aren't motivated by Roko's basilisk, just justified by it (in their minds)

Genuinely fucked to realize how many people oppose this hell state only because it's not *their* team imposing it. These people don't know how to save themselves and they never will.
