This is the kind of playful whimsy we happily pay 2.90 for.

Our guide to not hitting people with your car is now available in Italian!

Check us out on Mastodon (mastodon.social/@howdoyouguide) where we give a shout-out to our translators!

If anyone would like to see it in other languages, we'd love to collaborate!

We love a good illustration!

Some people are claiming we should only daylight (make it easier to see pedestrians) at intersections with crashes.

Luckily, there's a map of crashes! Play with it yourself here: crashmapper.org#/

Golly, looks like people could use our guide!

Working on a home-printer-friendly version of our guide.

Currently thwarted by font issues.

Creating outlines in InDesign gives us odd letter spacing, and removes underlines.

Wanted to do PDF, but might just cut our losses and put it out as a PNG (below is a lo-res screenshot). Thoughts?

Everyone is starting to notice our egregious typographical error.

We are sufficiently ashamed.

Please accept this corrected version of our guide:

Hi @npr.org! We worked late tonight putting together this handy pocket guide!

It doesn't address road design issues, but if we're going to educate road users, we should include drivers.

It's the size of a folded business card. Print it, fold it, put it in your wallet!

Next week is Week Without Driving, led by @americawalks.bsky.social.

We'll be profiling a different city every day. We visited each city in person and got around without driving.

Learn what worked, what didn't, and what pleasant surprises we found.

Early prototype.

The aim is to help gather the essentials on riding transit in a new city in about five minutes.
