Comedy writer. Doesn’t understand how Bluesky works.
The site is hand-made, hand-drawn and full of pictures of me. Lot's of promo shots from over the years, but also several portraits by my daughter Mabel Read. You've never seen anyone get so angry creating something so joyful.

It has been great fun putting it together with my son Samson who's just started studying Computer Science at Sheffield Uni. If anyone needs a website, let me know, he's good and cheap, could do pretty much anything I asked him to, and it turns out university's quite expensive, so there's that.

I owe a great deal to having fun websites. My live act, my life as a writer and animator all span off from my websites. I've written a little piece about it... on my new website!

Just in time for *Stan & Gran* hitting the Milkshake screen next month I've got a new website including all the things a writer needs on a website, and several things a writer really doesn't need, like a 360 degree tour of my head!

Find it at www.howardread.com if you'd like an explore.

For me running isn’t about the beating Adam Woodiat off of EastEnders, it’s about the taking part. But I did beat Adam Woodiat off of EastEnders.

Tried my first recipe from George Egg’s cook book The Snack Hacker. Fish Finger spaghetti. So nice. Buy the book. Please.

I’m so sorry. I had no idea. This is Yoda helping me do post run stretches.

I’m new to cryptic crosswords (this is last Sunday’s (I’m THAT new) so hopefully no spoilers) but is this normal? Obviously I guessed it, because I’m a child, but my monocle fair popped across the first class carriage when I checked it and it was right! Writing to Daily Mail as we speak.

Soo… Zack Starkey wasn’t introduced to drumming by Ringo, but by Keith Moon? Ringo Star wasn’t even the best drummer in his own house?

Beginnings of my much-needed office refurb. I made the first Kallax unit and IMMEDIATELY dented it, by dropping an EMMY nomination medal on it, which was hanging on my flying-V ukulele.

Nothing says winner and loser at the same time as loudly.

Morning all. Myself and Mabel Read are doing a stand-up gig in Hitchin next week. I very rarely gig near home, for reasons you’ll discover if you come. See me one last time before I’m chased out with pitchforks. And Mabel too, who really is very funny. Link in replies (is that a thing?)

Today my dogs have arranged themselves in the style of a Wes Anderson film.

We dun a science. Then found out you could do exactly the same thing with a colander. But ours involved cutting up a box, which is more science.

Me and my daughter are both doing stand-up here tomorrow. No. I’m not happy about that either.

Don’t worry, this one will bark until the person knocking at the door gets pissed off and leaves.
February 6, 2025 at 11:26 PM
These are our dogs Chewie and Yoda. They are a massively anti-social pain in the arse, because of their various issues, but I love them very much, sometimes I prefer their company to the people who they bark at until they leave. But not always. Today it is four years since we rescued them.
