Idea: what if tenants of both residential apartments and commercial buildings could have their rent payments go towards buying shares of ownership in their apartment unit or building, including retroactively? (1/3) #housing #housingcrisis #economy #apartments #business

Idea: what if tenants could vote to approve or deny rent increases proposed by their landlord? Necessary, modest rent increases due to inflation could be approved, but unnecessary ones would be denied, placing rent control in the hands of tenants directly. #housing #housingcrisis

100% capital gains tax on home sales to pop the housing bubble and drop housing prices to their actual intrinsic values, and cancellation and forgiveness of all homeowners' mortgages. #housing #housingcrisis

All student loan debt, credit card debt and payday loans should be cancelled and forgiven in full, and no more of such debt should be allowed to be issued, we do not really need it to exist. People affected by these types of debts should unite and advocate for this. #debt #money #studentdebt

Proposal: For all apartments, the government should prohibit charging rent on the first $30,000 (or whatever your area's average annual rent is) of a tenant's income, and itself pay the landlord that rent at a negotiated rate instead. (1/4) #housing #housingcrisis

what if there were a type of rent subsidy where you would pay $0 rent from any income below $15k to $20k a year, and the amount the landlord would charge you is subsidized at a rate negotiated by the government, similar to how public healthcare systems negotiate drug prices #housing #housingcrisis

Imagine the tulip bubble of the 1600s, but the Dutch govt decided to encourage it by exempting tulip sales from capital gains tax, allowing tax deductions of interest from tulip loans and guaranteeing them, and telling everyone "your tulip is your biggest investment." (1/2) #housing #housingcrisis

If homebuyers would pay 20% to 30% less for a home if it would depreciate in value over time instead of appreciate, the difference would give greater returns invested in the S&P500 instead. The home as an investment is unnecessary, in addition to causing the housing crisis. #housing #housingcrisis
