Oh! So I don't have to buy a year's worth of The General's Jasmine at a time so long as I can afford the extra fee's?

That's good to know.

Honestly this is probably the easiest way to handle it.
I have done similar with the by not talking about "DEI" and instead asking why people have a problem with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion of all folks.

It has not been perfect, but it has caused some "oh, huh..." Moments.

This post speaks to my soul.

I got the beta installed and am hoping to jump on this evening.

COD put me off for the same reasons. Battlefield's pace has always felt better to me, too

Though none of them have been as fun as BF: Bad Company 2 was. I hope this recaptures that magic.

I love sandwich-based magics.

Obviously, you will have to sing. Preferably loud, off key, and grunting through each rep.

I am gonna be real with you. I hate this. I hate that you thought of it. I hate that you made me think of it. I hate that the imagined texture tickles the back of my throat.
I am glad you are living your best life, though. Chaotic though it is.

It's one of the few I haven't already played. And Chris is my guy, so I really need to at some point.

If you need something grimdark, reminiscent of old school Conan books, something funny and action packed, or something with more spaceships... let me know. I read a lot. I got recommendations for days. DAYS.

Are the best places to start, in my opinion. Though if you want a standalone tale in the world, go with Monstrous Regiment or The Truth as they're both solid flashes into what makes Pratchett so good.

And I always, always recommend the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. Satirical fantasy that is written by a man who clearly understands and loves people, even when they're not particularly good. There are a few entry points there, but The Colour of Magic (first in the series) or Gaurds! Gaurds!

It was written in the 70's and feels like it, but it's got a lot of puns, people growing and struggling with grief, and some fairly uplifting moments.
July 23, 2025 at 4:53 PM
If you want a series of short stories with soft sci-fi elements, great characters, and the ability to make you cry at random while also reminding you that there are reasons to appreciate humanity, I recommend Callahan's Crosstime Saloon by Spider Robinson.
July 23, 2025 at 4:53 PM
It takes place in what feels like a post apocalyptic world that is being barely held together by specially trained magic users. It's got got a lot of underlying themes, representation, and solid world building... it's jut not a casual read.

this is a great option. Both of the above are very "hero's journey" types, and are not recommended enough, I feel. They're also both older.

Fifth Season by N.K. Jemison. First in a series (only one I read so far). It's very good and interesting, but the story is DENSE, which puts some people off.

Let's see.
The Riftwar Saga (Starting with Magician Apprentice) by Raymond Feist. Classic D&D style fantasy tale with elves, wizards, and a kingdom in turmoil.
Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn (starting w/ The Dragonbone Chair) is a more serious fantasy novel. If you wanted Game of Thrones to be more fun

Lots.
What do you like?

Whimsy? In this economy?

It's a tough thing to come to grips with. But that's exactly the case.

I literally memorized the alt-code for em-dashes cuz I use them so often.

And by that I mean I don't know what numbers they are. Only that my fingers know what they are doing.

I love when weird people get out there and make stuff. Even when I hate it I love it.
