of course. if they had asked for approval, all the democrats would have to do is approve it. then it would be legal and hardly be half as newsworthy. the party of republican complicity is not upset that it happened, they're annoyed that they now have to respond to it.

this. kids are of course connected to one another through social media and exchange ideas, but these social circles aren't reinventing and adopting "purity" ideas in a vacuum away from the rest of society.

Thinking about the article from earlier this year about the IDF soldier who committed suicide because he couldn't live with the PTSD committing genocide gave him, but he refused to denounce the genocidal project, recognise Palestinians as humans or quit the IDF.

they obviously should be separated on the basis that one is the wholesale theft of all of humanity's creative endeavours to a regurgitative machine and the other is just like, Minecraft world gen. they're just not remotely comparable as a thing to get mad at.

I always wonder what these people are putting into these chat bots that they're receiving what they think is a usable budget, for eg. ChatGPT is as "intelligent" as a english-fluent, very well read 6 year old, in everything i've seen. it "can" parrot other data sources. it has no *experience*.

Blackface on the UK national broadcaster in 2011. I've been banging this drum for a while. Alongside this and things like the HP novel that spends a weird amount of time justifying slavery, it's easy to forget how much more progressive the media got in the mid 2010s.

based on (a fairly small sample that I've seen of) the recent history US natural disasters, the average person - even the usually awful person - becomes incredibly altruistic and focused on helping out those they can.
there's of course one group who are a huge exception to this. cops.

I mean fuck, the duchy of lancaster (and cornwall too, i think?) still takes the whole estate of people who die without any heirs and add it to their "charitable fund" which was found to be spending an awful lot funding its own crown properties.
