I got hagstones…found over the years (we call them lucky stones). I give them away when I think of it.
Here are some:

I tried to touch some grass and had to dig through snow and ice.
A shovel stuck in the deep snow in front of an exterior door gives scale to the amount still to be removed before anyone (me) can get inside.

Reading through these posts is hope inspiring: the humanity of so many people across the americas helping, in response to this dire situation and these needy times. Grateful to all the good folks everywhere making bad things better bc that’s what humans do at their best.

I love this. I told you on Twitter years ago my dad flew in the RCAF in WWII, a squadron leader in #420 “Snowy Owl”, for which he rec’d a DFC for returning a bomber with part of a wing taken out by a bomb from above. After his tour he instructed on Harvards. I’m so glad (if envious!) that you fly!

Light shines through a natural hole in a small piece of limestone held between thumb and forefinger. Such stones have been called hagstones for their purported powers of protection, or lucky stones, as some luck is needed to find them that maybe accrues when they are given away.
