Mostly energy, supply chains, and transportation. Toto enthusiast. Still a MENA student at heart.

Onward, Rocinante!
And we haven’t even gotten to what longer-term financing options do in terms of incentivizing predatory behavior from lenders.

It’s good for market affordability that you have depreciating asset stock continuously turning over.

Especially when you’re a wealthy country with high production costs and few incentives to build lower cost (and margin) vehicles or housing stock.

Leasing is good.

Long-term renting with term optionality is better than long-term financing for most people, and good for the market because it creates liquidity.

We don’t want to induce more people into long-term financing of new depreciating assets. It’s an extraordinarily bad posture.

As I said...some of this damage is irreversible and Trump will ensure he gets blamed for everything from this point out.

Trump to air traffic controllers: "For those that did nothing but complain, and took time off, even though everyone knew they would be paid, IN FULL, shortly into the future, I am NOT HAPPY WITH YOU. You didn’t step up to help the U.S.A. against the FAKE DEMOCRAT ATTACK"

And that’s why winning a compromise to extend them a year would have been a bad political outcome.

Like I get the whole point for Dems is doing things on policy to help people, but for the sake of combatting autocracy, it’s better to give Americans what they voted for.

The cultural overreach is obviously liable to hurt Rs next year, and I don’t expect there will be any issues with Dem turnout.

The bigger electoral risk in this shutdown fight is Dems are seen as more responsible than Trump for it. The longer this drags on, the greater risk perceptions change.

There are now nearly 40 aircraft waiting to depart JFK.

It's Saturday morning with absolutely no weather to speak of for probably a thousand miles.

Federal financing entities like LPO exist to take first of a kind project risk, with the “Nth of a kind” getting picked up by commercial financiers.

But for projects where the tech is derisked & private capital is already funding commercial facilities, pulling LPO in only serves to bankroll froth.
