Just finished a year's worth of service (3 different week-long terms) on a state grand jury. Truly fascinating and, as you said, worthwhile experience.

That's incredible. His voice is deeply ingrained in my head because he did the audio books of Gary Paulson's Hatchet series, which I read and listened to many times as a kid.

Deeply therapeutic activity for me. I love singing for other people and having a reason to practice regularly, but I'd be doing it even if I was the only person on the planet.

Low for the indie set. All the old soul and jazz stuff (Motown & Stax Christmas, Phil Spector’s record, Ray Charles, Ella Fitzgerald, Vince Guaraldi, Jimmy Smith, Booker T, Kenny Burrel) is pretty unassailable. Lot of great country records too, but you can run into some bias there.

They’ve tightened up in recent years, but the early days before the cameras and other stuff were bananas. Literally, I rung all my produce up as bananas. Old #4011 saved me a pretty penny.

We got completely discombobulated trying to drive back to Louisville after the show. Car full of teenagers on mushrooms trying to figure out how and why we were heading back over the river into Cincinnati and how we could possibly find our way back.

I mostly dig my kids’ picks (the 9yo more so than the 5yo). But even when what they’re into is great, you’re gonna hear it WAY more than you’d probably like to.
