Whilst picking up some plants from Hammerbarn, I found a native finger lime (Citrus australasica) to gift to a home educating friend.

Every Monday, they host a large group of kids, including R(11), for social gaming & I want to thank them for all the time & effort they've been putting in.

W(3) will happily eat solid foods so long as it isn't fruit.

But puree the fruit, and it's suddenly her favourite food 😅

Each day, we put aside ten to thirty minutes to do a short lesson on whatever topic R(11) is interested in at that moment.

Today, it was looking at how the Earth formed. Specifically, what metals and minerals were involved.

My daughter, W(3), just said a new word!

To date, her only words have been - Dad/Daddy, Mum/Mummy, Oh no!, No, Thank you, Here go!, Okay, Hi, & Bye.

She just said "ice-cream"!

I called my partner in excitement, and now they're bringing home ice-cream for dinner 😄

R(11) had his first D&D session for 2025 today.

He came home full of excitement and creative ideas for the TTRPG that he is designing.

He's currently using Hero Forge to help visualise potential designs for one of the races he has created for it.

W(3) shared her food with me today at lunch!

This was a new behaviour for her, and I was so excited by it that I kept eating way past the point of being full 😅

One thing I discovered early on with homeschooling is the need to ensure time to myself.

Like any role, it can become exhausting to do 24/7, so finding time for myself is really important.

Our parenting philosophy is firmly based on our belief that children have the same inherent rights as adults.

We believe a child's autonomy should only ever be overridden in regard to medical & safety matters.

Usually, it's a very rewarding approach but sometimes it means watching Vooks at 2am 😅

W(3) really loves the Khan Academy Kids app.

Recently, she's started switching the audio to spanish and insists on only listening to the spanish storybooks.

I'm starting to think we maybe need to add spanish language lessons to our homeschool. 😄
