I took my daughter to see the wonderful #exhibition Conversations with Joan @womenslibrary.bsky.social which runs until Saturday!
It features a reimagined Joan Eardley #painting, Two Children, which is explored in our new resource for @artukdotorg.bsky.social

Next piece from my #artcollection is this lovely #print by Penny Bhadresa of the coral beaches on the West coast of Skye. I love the gorse in the foreground.

I submitted my thesis earlier this week on the impact of family art participation on young children’s social and emotional wellbeing.

I fear for the wellbeing of my examiners who have been sent the 420 page document just before the holidays. #academicsky

Next in my #artcollection series is this gorgeous #rockpool study by Joan Palmer. I saw a wonderful retrospective exhibition at The Lillie Gallery in September, and searching online came across a dealer in Edinburgh who had this #watercolour in a sale.

Next up in my weird and wonderful #artcollection let me introduce slip cast #ceramic Jerusalem artichokes by Kevin Andrew Morris. I bought these at least six years ago from a seasonal #craft fair in Glasgow’s The Whisky Bond.

I am taking a painting by Robert MacBryde into an Ayrshire primary school in January with @artukdotorg.bsky.social
In preparation, I bought a secondhand exhibition catalogue and have just found some press cuttings from 1962 inside! Jackpot! #research #art #primaryschool

First in an occasional series about the weird & wonderful artworks I’ve collected over the years.

First up, a #folkart painted coconut I won in a fundraising raffle for Glasgow’s performance art festival Buzzcut, about 10 years ago. No idea who Barry, Gillian or Ashley are.

Today I watched a fox eating bread crusts in the frost, and Venus emerge through the sunset.

To save you my dreadful photos here are some vintage Ladybird books by way of illustration.
