I grew up in the Christian church and recent converts aren’t immediately invited to preach. There is an expectation that they will study the tenets and excavate the parts of their current beliefs that run counter to those tenets. There never seem to be demands of estranged Rs to do similarly.

It makes me so angry that the second they (Mitt Romney, Jen Rubin, Matt Walsh, David Brooks, the entire Lincoln Project guys) do the tiniest thing that gets them tossed from the Rs, the Dems come running up to hand them a microphone to tell us how to remake our platform to fit them. Infuriating!

The only thing we need from her is her vote. Otherwise, she can sit her bleach blonde bad built bitch body down with her mouth closed.

The first reading in my 100 level Comparative Politics class is about the difference between inductive and deductive methodology and empirical and normative theories. Should I send it to him?

I used to think similarly, but now I believe that the billions of dollars spent by rightwingers to control our media landscape for the past 35ish years has had a much larger impact on public opinion than what individual members of Congress said during their campaigns five years ago.

That was a choice the media made that weak Dem leaders (Buttigieg here) accepted. The same way the media made a choice to distance Trump from Project 2025 when R operatives wrote it, they made a choice to attribute non-Dem activist policy prescriptions to ppl who never advocated for them.

I’m sure the Rs who control the Dem party now like Jen Rubin, David Frum, Bill Kristol, David Brooks, and all the Lincoln Project guys will demand we accept her, and the media will tut tut about expanding the base until we do. I’m sick of rightwingers taking over bc their house is on fire.

Every year in November, clergy and activists would gather at the School of the Americas at Fort Benning in Columbus, GA to protest and commemorate these deaths at the military base where rightwing paramilitaries were trained.

Eh, they always pick Catholics for the Supreme Court because that signals so much about abortion. We never seem to reduce rich white people to their identity because the US refuses to see white Christian as an identity.

Why is he in Asheville?!? I know they’ve gentrified hillbilly hippies into MAHA, but they should leave us alone now.

Trump picked Pence because of his Christian Boy Scout identity. He picked Vance because of his hillbilly identity. Every SCOTUS pick is Catholic.
Presidents always take their appointees identity into consideration:

I worked at a place that had this Sysco soup everybody loved and we used to joke that the difference between our soup and anything you make at home was a pair of scissors.

@benmank77.bsky.social can you have the Pope on TCM?

Papist (complementary)
November 15, 2025 at 5:58 PM
Can there be a difference between a Catholic and a papist?

Have you tried shifting your paradigm?

I wish some country would invade to overthrow the dictator and restore democracy, but something tells me we’re not going to get that kind of treatment.
