I've never seen DOWNHILL RACER, but it has been on my watch list for years. I am a big fan of both Gene Hackman & Robert Redford.

I discovered this movie for the first time a couple of years ago. My boyfriend and I really enjoyed it. It supposedly set in the Chicago suburb of Lake Forest, near where I grew up.

Yeah, I read a post somewhere (maybe Reddit) by a Lucy fan who liked Ethel's original hairstyle and rather frumpy clothes and felt that Vivian Vance was "auditioning" for Vivian Bagley during the final season of I LOVE LUCY.

I know that one of Vivian Vance's requirements for co-starring on Lucille Ball's post-Desi Arnaz series (THE LUCY SHOW) was that she have a better hairstyle than the one she had as Ethel Mertz. She also wanted her character to be named Vivian because she was tired of strangers calling her Ethel.
