Hi! I recently defended my dissertation in organizational theory, which is an exciting field, but I want to pivot from it in my future academic life, so I wanted to close this chapter by sharing with you everything I learned about this topic in a thread. #EconSky

I defended my dissertation today. This means that I am leaving my organizational theory adventure behind me and from now on I will be focusing on economic transformations and regime shifts. I will appreciate any information on relevant papers or research groups that I can join. #EconSky

"Deep" insights of some papers be like: "structural change can be caused not only by exogenous factors but also endogenous ones". Wow, mind blown :D

When I prompt: "Please spoil me what happens after season 2 of Vinland Saga. Or do you think I should read manga myself?" every single LLM tells me that I should read manga myself but then goes on and spoils it anyway in the same response. Interesting.

Advice on your next scientific presentation: everything on the slides must match what you are saying. Figures and tables are there to serve you - not the other way around.

That’s why CS are the most easily captured by this kind of scifi nonsense that spreads so easily on LW and SSC. They have no formal scientific OR mathematical training (at most they took automata theory) to encourage skepticism and they are easily flattered by visions of the world that center CS

After many months of being stuck in the double blind submission limbo, I was finally able to upload the preprint of my last paper about how workers simply talking to each other might eliminate the need for upper management.

If you are a researcher using simulations and are making any claims other than stylized facts, you are probably speculating. No, your simulation doesn't explain this real world event that is trending on the news.

Herb Simon wrote that he was always a smart kid and was curious how the world works, so he studied organizations. This always felt odd to me. In my worldview he should have somehow ended up studying physics.

How I was ambushed by a popup and accidentally removed my submission after paying Article Processing Charges. @elsevierconnect.bsky.social, you need to hire UX/UI people... or at least have a recycle bin for deleted submissions.

A client couldn't understand why his SPA would cost time and money. He was like: "But it is 2025! All websites are interactive". Yeah, and frontend is a separate job nowadays... which you have to pay a whole another person to do it.
