Exactly, let them apply at any of our embassies or consulates in safe countries and processes them there.

What I cannot understand is why we cannot let people attend one of our many consulates in safe countries like (say) France Germany etc apply there and be processed there and if they are successful as 60+% are we welcome the, in if they fail, well they are in a safe country are they not?

There is no evidence that stripping refugees' rights one by one will have any impact on people crossing the channel.

Taking jewellery from refugees is akin to painting over murals for refugee children.

To be fair Frontbench members tend not to get involved in back bench members bills. Even if it had made first reading it is very unlikely to have gone anywhere it's a publicity stunt. Labour government abstaining just indicated they've got better things to do. I'm glad @libdems.org.uk voted it down
