Steven King novels were so much fun. Really skilled evil monsters were defeated by the underdog that was ethical. So here I am watching the world series.

Nothing like paying a grand for a hand job only to half to pay another 400K on the back end to cover up the video.

What a surprise that this stock took a giant hit 2 weeks before autism was "linked" to Tylenol. Corruption right in your face. Deal with it losers

TIL it's possible to accidently deploy an LLM with a sleeper cell that's impossible to ever detect (there's no code, it's training so it's just variations of the weights) that could behave undesirably once triggered.

So I watched most of NWS thing with Ryan Hall (the star) and everyone else about how to improve weather warnings and info and nobody brought up the obvious- Allow NWS to build an app. So simple

The next insightful college football player sideline interview will be the first. Every guy is just brainwashed with the same cliches. Just end it. All of it.

The number of videos popping up showing 787 fuel cutoff switches across all platforms is truly disgusting

My takeaway on the Texas flooding is similar to other weather disasters. Learn where to get good info. Start with NWS. Read what they say. Learn what that means for you where you are. Plan ahead. Keep updated. During catastrophic events you are largely on your own.

Well people didn't skimp on fireworks this year that's for sure. My God

Imagine saying a year ago that such a notorious police state would be operational the number one app would be a snitch
ICEblock, which allows users to alert others to the geographical location of ICE officers, is the top social networking app in the App Store right now after Karoline Leavitt condemned it from the podium yesterday.

Just as a practical matter, consider how unheard of it is to expand an already significant federal agency by 1,000% in two or three years. WW2 mobilization or the early 60s Moon race are the right sort of analogies
With this budget, ICE alone would have nearly as large a detention operation as all 50 states' prison systems combined. Bigger budget than the Marine Corps. Police-state levels of spending
If the GOP reconciliation bill passes, ICE gets through FY2029:

- $45 billion for detention, on top of the current annual budget of $3.4 billion
- $14.4 billion for transportation and removal, on top of the current annual budget of $750 million
- $8 billion for hiring/retention
- Billions more.

Friday the 13th has quite the vibe already

More or less what I expected but seriously thought it would take longer than 6 months.

2025 will be the worst hurricane season ever for the US. Not because of the number or strength of the storms necessarily but the planning, warning, response and recovery. I urge all to assume you are on your own.

This morning my father passed away peacefully in my arms. Mom and Dad will be greatly missed by those fortunate to have met them. Rest is peace.

My wife and I & the dog sacrificed a ton to move in with my dad to take care of him thru his little time left. Mom passed away 6 months ago. He's familiar with stuff here so it was better than a crummy nursing home or our place. Compromise, empathy and respect pay future dividends.

Sigh.
Sad thread on why the US is doomed.
We started with this great constitution document designed to give people the power over the country. Elections, government checks and balances.
No one would be king. It worked great for a while. 1/n
