Underneath is them again showing that they are one of the best at what they do.

It’s got that classic Tweedy/Wilco laid back yet grating rock sound and has some real highlights most notably a wonderful tribute to Lou Reed. It also has some things that I have not heard on a Tweedy album before, showing some influences that until now he has kept to himself.

The whole world should stay home. Or go to games in Canada and Mexico only.

Take enough time with it and you too will be singing along as you float on the wind trying to find your way to the sun.

That relationship and its end informs every song on the album. While it is not Isbell’s best lyrically, its from the heart and has an urgency that fits the subject.

That’s an entire morning right there. A fine morning too.

I must give it a rewatch. Saw it many times back in the day but have probably not watched it for 20 years.
