Sixty five, still woke and still annoyed.
@aiannucci.bsky.social just listening to old Hurty Words with SL about the Disney/Marvel conundrum. It occurred to me the BBC is in a similar position (see your programme for example) - and you can even extend the discussion to ethnic minorities in adverts. Just a thought.

@newsagents.bsky.social justice listened to the Farage story - antisemitism being out of bounds in the 70s. Absolutely. Also interesting NF should use 70s sitcoms to make his point at the same time appealing to the ‘you can’t say anything anymore’ brigade, who may still think that was better times.

@originstorypodcast.bsky.social great gig tonight guys - but I hope you know we also come for the like minds vibe? Talking of which Dorian - did you say your last visit there was happy post UK election? Because I have a strong memory of an emotional support group post US election last November?

@sturdyalex.bsky.social thought this might amuse. At a great gig by Matt Green last night (Milton Keynes) and in his Tory persona he asked if anyone in the audience not born in the UK. One of just two who spoke was Greek - a university lecturer - in mathematics. Just perfect.

@originstorypodcast.bsky.social loving the current socialism series. However, school age raised to 15 after the war I think?

@iandunt.bsky.social just sharing (and giggling) the wonderful description of the odd characters who get involved in socialism from the first episode. . Reminded me of Neil Kinnock who said ”these people were good for a pint and an argument late at night in the JCR, but not much else.” 😊

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.

CDU/CSU &SPD have just proposed a sea change in German fiscal policy:

- defence spending above 1% of GDP exempt from debt brake
- 10-year €500bn special fund for infrastructure
- looser debt rules for states
- further debt-brake reform in new Bundestag

This is just immense. The scale of it, politically and economically, is kinda breathtaking.

I wrote about the biggest paradox of 21st century governance: that the democratization of information production is killing democracy. Trump’s America is the canary in the coal mine for how badly things can break when voters inhabit different realities from a steady diet of informational sludge.
The Democratization of Information Production is Killing Democracy
The way we receive information about our world is unlike any previous generations of humanity. Paradoxically, it's destroying democracy—and Trump's America is the main canary in the coal mine.

Just in from mammoth interview session to two bits of news. One that a DV perp got locked up because of something I did and that a vulnerable constituent had a a massive wrongful debt written off after our intervention. This is why I came to politics, this is why I'll just keep cracking on.

@iandunt.bsky.social good article on assisted dying. Have to point out that what we for our dogs is “involuntary”, so another form of assisted dying that is not on the agenda here.
