i’ll be honest, idgi. Isn’t this using pro-Lincoln sentiment for their fascist propaganda?

like if it was a case like this www.cbsnews.com/amp/minnesot... at least it would have a messed up internal consistency to believe it was a false flag, but this doesn’t even fit the narrative of “rising left antisemitism by way of antizionism!” aggravating

The largest synagogue in Minnesota has once again been vandalized with spray paint bearing antisemitic messages.

part of what’s so nuts about this to me is that the “false flag” narrative seems to affirm that evidently far right vandalism would have something to do with Mamdani’s victory. Like, who would even assume that if you didn’t start saying it was a false flag against Mamdani???

the recurring theme in accusations against mamdani is attributing half-remembered ragebait aggregated from several years of protests across the whole county to him.

To be clear, it is genuinely bad, at a time when neo-Nazism is making a comeback in American political discourse, that we do not have a watchdog organization on antisemitism that can be taken seriously. But the ADL has not behaved in a way over the past year that is worthy of that role.

Like I just don’t understand how you can acknowledge that Israel was using genocidal rhetoric and killing way more people than Hamas did (suggestive of the wider power differential) and not see why US protestors were focusing on stopping israel rather than pressuring hamas to free hostages.
November 5, 2025 at 11:30 PM
At a personal level on 10/7 I had more of a connection to Israeli victims and hostages, and was flooded with videos of brutal murders, but even so it was obvious that the more pressing issue was Israel beginning a genocide targeting a city of over 2 million people with my government’s support.
November 5, 2025 at 11:29 PM
Ok but do you see how it makes more sense for US protestors to try to pressure the US government to not back Israel as it began committing genocide rather than for them to try to convince Hamas to unilaterally release hostages?

genocidal rhetoric was absolutely being used within days. www.ohchr.org/sites/defaul...

high ranking members of Israel’s government and military were using genocidal rhetoric immediately. Did you not realize what was going to happen? This feels like a “they were wrong for being right too early” sort of argument.

compare how much coverage there was of Israel’s attacks in Gaza in 2008, 2014, or 2019. Those were an order of magnitude or two smaller events, in raw death toll, than just October-December 2023. The focus is longstanding even if opinions were less universally pro-palestine in the past.
