I thought I might be done as I biked up the hill, but York Rd businesses finished weak. Carroll Fuels of Lutherville managed to be the third gas station to get all traces of snow cleared from their pumps but carefully avoid clearing their sidewalk for their pedestrian neighbors. Embarrassing.

Almost down, at the top of that hill is Seminary, where I decided to quit. But first, we have to stop and wonder if the owners of Trulieve Cannabis Dispensary are too high to shovel their sidewalk. If they were, how did they manage to clear their parking lot?

Sigh, this block is rough, 3rd business, 3rd ice-covered sidewalk. Mr. Tire of Lutherville has not complied with Baltimore County Code requirements to clear their sidewalk of ice and snow.

Lutherville Pizza Boli’s and 7-Eleven share a building and an antipathy to their pedestrian customers and neighbors. A 7-Eleven with no gas pumps… guys some of your customers arrive by foot.

This property was one of my inspirations for doing this. Calico, Essence Massage and State Farm Agent Lonzo Warren should figure out why their property manager doesn’t care about their image in the community or compliance with county code. Sidewalks on both York Rd and Bellona need to be cleared!

I want going to find a way to get across the road for this picture, but Legacy Consulting LLC of Lutherville has had several days to shovel their sidewalk, but has failed to do so. They are directly across from 1624 York Rd, so in this section neither side of the road is clear for pedestrians.
January 12, 2025 at 1:20 AM
Another vacant commercial property making life dangerous for pedestrians. 1624 York Rd has not cleared their sidewalks.
January 12, 2025 at 1:16 AM
Now the one that’s maybe the worst. This is Heritage Mazda Towson at 1835 York Rd. This @mazdausa.bsky.social dealership is next door to Lutherville Lab Elementary school. Where does Mazda think the families should walk? Do they not worry kids could slip and fall into the roadway?

Another gas station, this time a Citgo. It’s arguable that they might have cleared their sidewalk once, but I snapped this picture because I watched a pedestrian detour to walk thru the gas pump area rather than continue on the sidewalk!

I’ve heard that this Raimondi’s Florist has closed, but again, someone owns this property and still bears responsibility for clearing the snow and ice.
January 12, 2025 at 1:04 AM
Folks, we’ve finally made it to Ridgely! We’re at the side of the intersection that MDOT SHA saw fit to allow pedestrians to cross at, but the combined powers of Floyd’s Barbershop and T-Mobile were unable to get out here and provide some minimum safety and accommodation for pedestrians.

Commercial Real Estate Services (CRES) of Maryland finishes up the short (3 lots) block from Aylesbury to Northampton with an unbroken streak of not clearing their sidewalks. As I approached on Northampton, I saw a man on a bike risk crossing York Rd here rather than risk this block.

Right past Toohey Appraisals is the European Skin Care Center. They may care for your skin, but only if you arrive by car to their clean and cleared parking lot, because they sure didn’t bother with cleaning the sidewalk.
January 12, 2025 at 12:49 AM
Toohey Appraisals at 1835 York Rd clearly doesn’t value their community very highly, otherwise they’d clear the snow and ice from their sidewalk, as required by law.
January 12, 2025 at 12:45 AM
Just past Pinnacle Real Estate is another sidewalk clearance scofflaw, Dr. Xu’s Acupuncture at 1909 York Rd. Their sign advises us that Dr. Li is back, but they sure didn’t bring a snow shovel with them.
January 12, 2025 at 12:41 AM
The Pinnacle Real Estate Company of Timonium and some other company that doesn’t seem to have any web presence at 1911 York Rd have an immaculate parking lot and a sidewalk untouched by snow shovels. Shame!
January 12, 2025 at 12:37 AM
Neither Apex Advertising or Brigid Mulligan State Farm are on BlueSky, a shame that now if anyone looks for them here they’ll learn that don’t care to clear their sidewalks of snow and ice for their neighbors. They found money to pay to clear the parking lot, couldn’t spring for 20 yds of sidewalk.
January 12, 2025 at 12:17 AM
Look, I’m aware the Sonic Drive-In closed down a couple months ago. But someone owns this property and the responsibility to clear the snow & ice from the sidewalk.
January 12, 2025 at 12:12 AM
The Nautilus Diner! So many people have fond memories of eating here, why couldn’t you do the minimum and clear your sidewalk within the week after a snow storm!?
January 12, 2025 at 12:09 AM
Now we’ll mostly see a parade of small, local businesses that show as much antipathy to their community as any mega-corporation. Starting with Advanced Security Safe & Lock of Timonium.
January 12, 2025 at 12:07 AM
The next business actually cleared their sidewalk (a Nissan car dealership no less! Good job!). But then we reach on of the worst offenders: Jiffy Lube at 2071 York Rd. They plowed their parking lot onto the few feet of public sidewalk that they haven’t claimed as driveway apron!
January 12, 2025 at 12:05 AM
Next business south of that parking lot is a strip mall called “fairgrounds center”. They have done a great job clearing their parking lot but they hate the community around them, as shown by not clearing their sidewalk as required by law.
January 12, 2025 at 12:01 AM
Next up, it’s a parking lot just south of Michael’s cafe in Timonium. I’ve always assumed Michael’s cafe owned this parking lot, but can’t be sure. Anyway, whoever owns it sucks because they got the parking lot plowed but didn’t touch the sidewalk.
January 11, 2025 at 11:58 PM
Starting us off, it’s a gas station! @exxonmobiloil.bsky.social made sure their pumps were clear but could care less about pedestrians.
January 11, 2025 at 11:56 PM
Also, when my wife said the trip was on, I was like “This is awesome, we’ll get to see the start of the first congestion pricing in North America! It’s so historic!”

(We did drive into the city (family of 5 + grandma), we’re staying in mid-town, our car is parked at the hotel for the weekend.)
