“There is a cult of ignorance in the US, and there has always been. A strain of anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.”

For a few years now, I’ve been concerned not only about some ideas from those who oppose me, but also, to a lesser extent yet worth mentioning, I worry about certain opinions from my allies.

I'm finally fed up with the smarmy intellectuals —always lenient towards the right and "self"-critical from the centre to the left— who come to tell you, explicitly or implicitly, that Trump's or Milei's cruelty is a necessary evil.

Go and bugger off.

Andrew Wakefield, the fire-starter of the Anti-Vaxxer movement, is likely responsible for more deaths than Hitler, Stalin and Pol Pot put together.

We are supposed to believe the Heavens remain arms-crossed in front of the horrors of Gaza, or acting in "subtle", meek ways, as it went on during the Holocaust.

If this doesn't prove that God does not exist, I don't fucking know what will.

If the zeitgeist of incipient techno-feudal fascism proves nothing else, it proves that it is not nearly enough to wait for public demonstrations to stop them. We need to also buttress the rule of law and liberties with stronger checks and balances.

And I'm talking worldwide, not just the US.

The AI-Optimist Corporate Schpiel wants us to "accept the death of Knowledge Work" and embrace "Wisdom Work", while at the same time, they tell us ChatGPT scores higher than humans in bedside manners and empathy (but it's only phoney flattery).

One of these is an Ukranian kid, the other is Gazan.

Depending who you are, you might be ignoring or denying the one's suffering and pitying for the other.

Which ever way, you are a hypocrite. Both deserve your outcry.

Gaza Facts 01:

Jews are not to blame for the genocide in Gaza, any more than Arabs or Muslims can be blamed for ISIS or Hamas.

It's the Likud. It's Netanyahu, it's the state of Israel. Many Jews oppose it. Get it straight once and for all.

I was often reminded by (sadly, former) pro-Israel friends that Hamas was motivated by a messianic, destructive religion. This is hard to contest, but the same could be said about Israel and the Likud's grassroots. From Illan Pappé, an Israeli academic:

Aún hay muchísimos, demasiados, que no entienden y discuten la cuarentena durante la pandemia.

Hay que volver a explicar porqué fue necesaria, GLOBAL, y si se pecó por larga, fue por lo seguro y no lo imprudente.

Hay que dar ese debate como si fuera hoy, que puede serlo mañana.

It's disheartening how I find myself intellectually betrayed by those with which I agree with:

- Those on "my side" denouncing the Gazan Holocaust, shrug off, or justify Putin's regime.

Our US Founders feared tyranny of the majority.

They hoped checks & balances would prevent despotism.

But checks fail when those being checked are the ones holding the scales.
Tyranny of the misinformed majority – a hope for change

To-day, Freedom has been emptied of its meaning and rendered into a cheap cult; so I paraphrase the words of J.R.R. Tolkien.

There's "a good and a bad side, beauty against ruthless ugliness, tyranny against kinship, *moderated freedom with consent* against compulsion"
