I live in Hexham in the North East of England, close to Hadrian’s Wall. Mostly interested in history but also nature, philosophy and art.

Image of a bagpiper from the Leschman Chantry Chapel in Hexham Abbey. It’s part of a row of irreverent humorous carvings. Likely carved around the 15th century. #hexham #history

At Cragside, the Victorian country house in Northumberland, the dining room features a notable inglenook fireplace adorned with stained glass windows designed by William Morris. The windows depict the four seasons, showing the Arts and Crafts movement’s emphasis on craftsmanship and natural themes

Recently visited Warden Hill Hillfort in Northumberland and thoroughly enjoyed seeing it in snow, which highlighted the contours of the old walls. I asked Chat GPT to draw the fort based on the Historic England description of it. Perhaps not very accurate but fun anyway! #hillfort #northumberland
