Historian E.P. Thompson had very little time for counterfactuals, labelling them ‘unhistorical *%#*’. 😮

That notwithstanding (!), some of the greatest pedagogic utility I have leveraged out of AI / LLMs thus far has been to generate counterfactuals as starter activities. #AI
