Whether it’s the alliteration, I don’t know, but it feels like Barney is running some kind of escape movement!

Today, I made too many cakes! Raspberry and white chocolate, and apple and blackberry - former needs more chocolate (obviously!) and latter needs cinnamon. Am experimenting/adapting a dairy/egg/gluten free recipe and making it up as I go along. Ha - like many things!

And so the holiday ends with a walk at our favourite place. It has been a lovely six weeks; days out, time to rest, meeting friends and family. Daughter has done volunteering roles 2 days a week. She is growing up, and really gaining in confidence. And! She is excited about the return to college.😊

Daughter has volunteered weekly at a community garden during the summer holiday. She has really enjoyed it, gaining so much confidence. Today was her last day. They gave her a tea party. Someone made a card, everyone had written messages in it. She also got flowers.😊🥺

Today was one of our favourite days out of the summer holiday - the Relaxed Prom at the Royal Albert Hall. This was the 4th time that we have been, and as before there
was fantastic music, a
lovely atmosphere, and
very helpful staff.

I’ve written before about the memorial to Canadian troops who were based around our town during both World Wars. Today, I saw a poppy wreath that was put beside it for last month’s VE Day commemorations. It is moving to see such an act, away from civic grandeur just by a small memorial at the beach.
