I love this photo I just took because it looks so sweet and angelic, but I'm pretty sure Charlie was actually grooming one of his paws, once again making his cleanliness everyone else's business, while Grace exercised her usual patience.

My dogs Charlie and Grace lying comfortably on my bed amidst various blankets. I was lying next to them when I took the picture, so the view is eye level. Grace, a smooth-coated, tan and white dog, is on her stomach, chin resting on a bit of rumpled comforter. Charlie, scruffy-looking and straw-colored, is half on his stomach, half on his side, perpendicular to his sister, with his back legs swung out toward the camera. His nose and forehead are lightly pressed against Grace's right cheek as Grace looks serenely at the camera.

A fresh tattoo of Sonic the Hedgehog dying on an ornate cross. Sonic looks understandably distressed, tears streaming down his face, emaciated body battered, ribs visible through his dirty fur, gloves disheveled, nails in his palms and large shoes, jagged crown of thorns on his brow, blood dripping from his puncture wounds. His gaze is turned upward, pleadingly, though it seems he's struggling to raise his head enough to do even that. His sneakers don't look that bad, though, all things considered. Just a little scuffed.

A photograph of my two dogs on a couch, taken from an angled perspective looking down at them. Grace, the larger, smooth-coated, brown-and-white-patterned dog, takes up half of the image, lying on her side, back facing the camera, face pointed to the left, rear paws against the couch's back, and front legs curled toward her stomach. Her brother Charlie, a smallish, scruffy, straw-colored dog, is nearly perfectly mirroring her, facing the opposite direction, rear paws also against the back of the couch, but with his front legs stretched so that the attached paws are also pressed into the couch, almost as if he's insisting that he's as big as his sister. There are a few blankets lying under and among them, clear signs of a recent battle.

My smallish, scruffy dog Charlie lying on his stomach, on a blanket on my couch, happily gnawing on an allegedly beef-scented bamboo chew bone. Personally, I think it smells like clay that can't make up its mind whether it wants to be musty or not.

My patient angel girl and her terrible gremlin brother.
Photo 1 of 2 of my dogs Charlie and Grace play-fighting on my bed. Charlie, a smaller, furrier, 25-pound dog, stands over Grace, his larger, smooth-coated, 50-pound sister. Charlie's curled tail is blurry because of its excited wagging as he gnaws on her front-left leg. Grace's mouth is slightly open as she lies on her back, lazily defending herself against his intensifying assaults. Photo 2 of 2 of my dogs Charlie and Grace play-fighting on my bed. Charlie's tail is still blurry, and you can clearly see his fangs as he savagely munches on her leg, leaning over her even more. Grace is now lying on her side, stomach and eyes facing the camera, her mouth open wider, all of which would give the impression that she is under further duress, except that she also looks like she's smiling.
