The trailer had me hooked just from the stellar font choice alone. Film was atmospheric, incredible set, costume, and makeup design, along with all the attention to detail that we know and love from Guillermo Del Toro. Also Mia Goth and her insect-inspired looks were *chef’s kiss*

Bistro Bouquet in downtown Hiroshima. Low lighting, tea light candles, atmosphere-appropriate music nailed the vibe and the food and wine were also incredible! Bit pricey (but what isn’t nowadays?) so definitely more of a treat than a regular place to go. Details in the alt!

Generally rains when I’m invited to the barbecue. Today was drizzly and mostly cloudy, so at least it wasn’t rained out 🏝️

Another video from my favorite fireworks display in Hiroshima: the Yoshiwa Summer Festival. It’s at least 10 degrees cooler there and the fireworks fill the sky to an impossible degree.

Went to the Osaka-Kansai Expo to interpret at an event for Hiroshima Kagura and Akiōta Town. Was on stage all day and there were hardly any international visitors there, but the Japanese audience seemed amused by my English hosting 😂
BUY BUY BUY Less than subliminal capitalist messaging from Myaku-myaku The stage where the Hiroshima Kagura event was held — mercifully it had a roof for shade and the ocean was right behind it The big wooden ring thing that everyone goes nuts for but honestly? It looked so weathered and kind of shabby? I know I could never even attempt to build it but why wasn’t it like varnished or something? Did you know? Myaku-myaku has an eyeball on its butt. I thought it was distasteful to photograph a mascot’s butt without consent, so here is Myaku-myaku from the front, kneeling to say welcome.

While on the bus home, I saw pops of colorful flowers along a nearby river, so I went to check it out and found all kinds of hydrangeas, plus lilies and roses and all kinds of flowers
