Wow. You really spent good time digging up quotes from me, trying to make me look bad, & yet none remotely suggest what you say.

My concerns are literally about many progressives not being open to conversations about trans women in women’s sports, at the high school level and above.

Thats all.

I don’t think trans people are extremists.

I have no problems with trans people. I support their rights & expansions of protections. I support their wider cultural acceptance.

Is that what transphobes everywhere say? Because I keep saying that.

The science is not settled, sorry to burst your bubble on this one.

There’s zero reason for you to bring up RFK here, his beliefs have nothing to do with this issue being settled science or still open. And I certainly don’t reference him.

Fluoride analysis triggers renewed debate over what levels are safe for kids
A new study suggests a link between high levels of fluoride and lowered IQ. It's heating up arguments over fluoridating drinking water, which dentists say is critical for protecting teeth.

Sorry you’re offended by my muted follow. It’s not personal.

My arguments still stand. Stronger than before, actually.

You use the app too?

Jesus, you are a predictable bunch.
March 17, 2025 at 12:59 AM
This is not a fair take on anything I’ve said.

I think trans kids in sports are great. I think that it’s generally inappropriate in professional sports, without a solid evidence base for fairness, which generally doesn’t exist yet.

You may note, some of the activists come to my defense.

I’m sure you think of yourself as open mind, says the person who automates their purity tests.

I have him muted, don’t care what he says, but it lets me know a lot of you 🤡 who aren’t interested in any sort of discussion of ideas.
March 17, 2025 at 12:52 AM
I think trans people are great and deserve way more legal protections and wider societal acceptance. 🤷

Well, language and norms.

Like what topics get applause vs. a pile on, for what groups of people.
March 15, 2025 at 7:27 PM
They’re a group that’s falling behind. As progressives trying to build a better world, this should not be controversial.

That’s all I’m saying, really. A lot of it is about language.

Did you read the original article, with Chris Murphy & others?
March 15, 2025 at 7:25 PM
The fact that there are differences in how men & women are doing across measures does not bother me.

But men aren’t doing well, as a whole, especially young and blue collar men.

And I think it shouldn’t trigger a pile on to say that the left doesn’t understand the problems & should work on that.
March 15, 2025 at 7:23 PM
… seem to translate that way, when you’re not part of a group they historically see as oppressed. Even if your own experience in it was particularly hard & traumatizing.

But again, thanks for talking. It’s nice to be heard a little to cool down from this sort of thing.
March 15, 2025 at 1:50 AM
… was “oh my god shut up” about a thoughtful piece that they disagreed with.

It’s also an issue that’s deeply personal to me. I sometimes like to think the woke crowd would see my own perspective as a member of a hurting population as worth elevating over their own, as an outsider.

But it doesn’t…

I appreciate the feedback. I will have to refine my approach, clearly, but it’s an important part of the story that it’s society that’s left men in such a bad social/emotional state.

This isn’t some natural, immutable trait of the human male.

And the post I was responding to…

Not to drag this all out! But last thing - I have a friend w/2 boys who got a lot out of this book. I haven’t read it but have it in my shelf:
March 15, 2025 at 1:12 AM
I just wish that 20 years ago, we/liberals applied the same level of thought & energy to raising emotionally self aware boys as we did teaching girls they could be anything they wanted, society’s boxes be damned.

Most of the boys still got boxed in. We just didn’t recognize the box or the dangers.
March 15, 2025 at 1:09 AM
I wish you guys the best. It sounds like he has a good mom, and hopefully that’s enough to inoculate him against the RW stuff.

It’s the youth where we can have the most impact. I have a much younger son and I do worry, but I like to think the work we do early on will keep him on a good track 🤞
March 15, 2025 at 1:06 AM
And also, I believe you.

Those men were raised without social emotional learning, when it wasn’t a critical skill for men.

Yet today, it is.

And liberals tend to try and to berate them into becoming more social/emotionally aware. Because of the patriarchy, there’s a sense they deserve it.
March 15, 2025 at 12:48 AM
I get the pull to take everything to “men are the problem”. I really do. Oppression is real & women’s right have been a constant battle for progress for a long time.

But I also think it’s a problem when liberal society has trouble talking about men’s problems with any compassion.
March 15, 2025 at 12:24 AM
I don’t disagree with anything you say!

I did follow up my first post, immediately, with:

“Not that women are all good. I’m a progressive and believe in women’s rights & raising women up & identifying areas where women struggle and using govt to provide supports to correct this.”
March 15, 2025 at 12:19 AM
To be fair - I did follow up my first post, right away, with this:

“Not that women are all good. I’m a progressive and believe in women’s rights & raising women up & identifying areas where women struggle and using govt to provide supports to correct this.”

I thought this was pretty clear!

🙄
March 15, 2025 at 12:14 AM
💯

Though to be honest, a lot of women do this too.
March 15, 2025 at 12:14 AM
Why would you ask that question, when all these examples are right in front of you?

You think this is an anomaly?
March 15, 2025 at 12:09 AM
… is not coming up with this out of thin air.

Maybe they’re amplifying something they’ve found that’s real.

Especially when it comes to young men & boys who have less educational potential. Society is socially & emotionally very harsh for them. For youth, I don’t buy the answer of blaming them.
