Blender anim question - the mesh is skinned to a set of deformer bones, but I'm using non-deforming bones w/ custom shapes to constraint-transform my deformer bones, do I have to key the transforms of both the controllers & the deformers if I'm exporting the animations with Ony Deform Bones checked?

Adventures in cooking: our friend group is getting together to carve/paint pumpkins tonight & everyone's bringing food. I don't know how to cook much but I'm trying out making a brown sugar honey glazed ham. Following a tutorial, I made a glaze, ham is cooking now, final pictures once it's done:

Found some river generation junk I forgot to share. Starts at the highest point on the map, then marches down looking for steepest declines. If it falls into a pit before reaching the ocean, it'll fill-search radial points until it finds the next lowest point out of the pit, then resumes path march.

...batched on separate threads & then returned. Gonna try & combine this with the quadtree terrain stuff I've been playing with, I think this is the missing ingredient, especially with component collision/physics updates being practically instantaneous!

Update - turns out UDynamicMesh is largely a UObject wrapper for FDynamicMesh3 - a data structure, which can be manipulated off of the game thread. Offloading geo buffer generation & FDynamicMesh3 construction to separate threads, then just passing the data back to UDynamicMesh, is very fast!

- You can now place probes onto the planet, which will reveal raw material deposits. Still need to animate the probe's travel.
- UI tells you what resources you have, what a probe/lander flight path will cost.

Gonna go to sleep & try for a big push tomorrow.

#GMTK #gamejam progress night 2

- Can put pins on the planet that will move with the surface rotation
- Can get a preview of your shuttle crew's flight path down to the planet
- Improved planet shadows
- Stubbed some UI in

All the math for this is awful and fake, I have no idea what I'm doing lmao
