I'm nowhere near Manhattan, but the grocers and florists near me have had small, live, potted spruce trees as seasonal decorations for a while now. I hope you find one - that's a great tradition to continue.

From Canada and all I can think is - look at the cops and equipment deployed to (provoke and then) arrest the guy, then the resources it took to pursue charges, as well as all the overtime or time off for the "victim" ... does the government down there have nothing else to spend money on?

How is a bike left locked for >2 hours at a transit hub somehow “abandoned”, but a car left parked on a public street for days on end is not “subsidized storage”?
