Something new amongst the many things old;
#ianmoorearchitects The Corner Store set amongst the #sydneyterracehouses in Surry Hills.
Gleaming & pristine, so well scaled in relation to the terraces all around

Architecture is certainly work for the patient…but here part of our 1996 design for an ensemble of 18 houses (& a service station!) finally on site.
Pair of courtyard houses, open to sun. Compact & amenable, playful scale,

Our project for the adaptation of 1903 heritage-listed Raith House approved in Campbelltown.
The beautiful verandahs on all sides will become sheltered play spaces, main rooms retained, sympathetic new wing to rear defines a courtyard for youngest to play in. Offices in max roof

The architect & their building;
Jared Webb of J.AR Office explaining the delights of his newly-completed design of the hospitality venue Golden Avenue in central Brisbane.
Fantastic interlocking series of spaces, inside & outside & everything in between.
Loved the sneek peek of the operable roofs

The brilliant GOMA gallery, spectacularly sited on the bank of the Brisbane River, looking across at city centre.
Generous civic veranda to the river, clear plan with a X of lofty circulation spaces that allow the large gallery rooms to operate independently or colllectively

Harry Seidler is best known for his iconic city towers across Aust capitals & internationally, & for affectionardos his apartment buildings & early houses.
But he & his office also built less imageable, robust, mid-rise office buildings - this one on the tough stretch of Elizabeth St Surry Hills

Shading the streets so important to help combat urban heat.
Every city needs a street tree master plan - plant them wherever they shade the footpaths & especially the asphalt roadway.
Good in nature strips, but best in parking lanes or medians

The square & the circular tower at Australia Square.
Perhaps the best example of the tower/plaza type.
Almost 60 years young, Harry Seidler’s masterpiece still as striking as ever.
Later Frank Stella artwork added in foyer so beautiful.

The compact delights of St. Mary Woolnoth, one of 6 London churches designed between 1712 & 1733 by the architect Nicholas Hawksmoor (1662-1736).
Urbane, well adapted to site, eccentric exterior, tightly organised cubic interior - so much to admire!

All common areas have outlook & openable windows
Privacy & range of balconies.
