I’ve forgotten this sometimes but being able to discover something you like, curate it, and make time to enjoy it *is* intelligence, connecting with art is intelligence, empathy is intelligence, the way of the dullard is to find nothing meaningful in art except for a way to seem snidely clever

i do find the use of release date as a metric funny tho (if it's actually that) bc like.....one of those 2025 albums was destroyer's and idk if bejar's really hitting for the youth. same for stereolab, pulp, jens lekman, for other examples. i could be wrong!

i went on a real tear in the summertime driving around to the replacements, also television and talking heads, so if it was just 'oldest song' those would skew much higher than 21. just guessing tho!

well, mine was 21, and the majority of my listening this year was albums that came out this year / since 2020 (it also said as much onscreen). i assumed i got a generally 'young adult' number due to the 'new' trend in my data. so i guess i'm team 'average of all dates'?

mine was 21; i am decidedly not 21. i think it was largely on the basis that i did really like a bunch of new releases this year (of many genres - it's just tracking 'new'). but the wrapped coming up so much in the discourse is reminder enough!!

the first time i saw damsons in real life it activated me like a sleeper cell bc of all the delicious-sounding mentions in these books!!

it seems like it's written like she wants people to just excerpt pithy sentences, like how shows are clipped for short-form video in this era.....except all the sentences are the most overwrought, incoherent dogshit you've ever seen. and like scaachi said she's not even dropping real dirt!!

i'm also watching through all the TM series for the first time and just finished 6. i also hated russell in the first episode but i did really warm up to him by the end (minus one task involving chewing gum). fwiw!!

i used to manage a bakery and i lobbied hard as fuck to limit our christmas music to one play per day of the vince guaraldi charlie brown christmas (bc that's all i like). we mostly sold sourdough to bougie hippies, we did not need all that, i still think i was right so i agree w/ you 100%.

i wanna see the shoes from the side though? they are the only part of the outfit that might be fun, but i need a second angle to be sure

my most recent customer service experiences were for small businesses that just had a cash box, an old-ass analog register, or a square terminal we'd just punch totals into. rounded down at all of those. i see and acknowledge that's prob not universal. but character limits, you know?

canada got rid of pennies awhile ago. digital payments go through with the precise figure, for cash payments companies round down. easy.

that salad looks good as fuck and imo a salad is necessary at a big festive meal. the variety and contrast lets you happily plow through even more mash, stuffing and gravy

not actually american, but i'm pretty sure at least a bunch of yoopers are up to similar traditions so i think i can speak to that.

a specific christmas ham is the big cultural centerpiece for my family/people (joulukinkku - it's brined, not smoked, baked with a mustard glaze). we also go all out for the main feast on christmas eve.

i've gotten this!! 'wow, you look good for 1998!' like miss ma'am i'm already pleased, you do not need to lay it on this hard, and also consider fixing your prescription (for both reading and face-looking haha)
