I think being mayor of a global city with a larger population than 38 states is actually fairly important for a whole lot of reasons.
Why do you dislike Mamdani so much? Be honest.

Yeah platforms that enabled and accelerated the proliferation of heresies and conventicles and little sects everywhere is just the worst conceivable setting for solidarity politics

I tend to think of these kinds of reactions as an outgrowth of permanent 2016 syndrome. That's festered for almost a decade now and boy howdy it's had some perverse outcomes.

Heinlein has a throwaway line in one of the fascist world-building chapters of Starship Troopers about how no Department of Defense ever won a war.
Can't imagine any downsides to Robert Heinlein's foreign policy as executed by the second Trump administration.

Are you a Democrat? Are you compelled to defend the gerontocrats every time they fail? Do you always have an excuse for the cowardice of electeds and scorn for everyone a millimeter left of center?
You may be at risk for Gentry Brain. Talk to your doctor and get the facts.

He has supposedly spent years reading Rene Girard but seems to just now have considered "what if I'm the one they want to scapegoat?!"

I don't like that legislative caucus leaders have to be cheerleaders in our system -- but they still have to do it. Endorsing your party's nominee in your hometown is a bare minimum requirement for a party leader/coalition manager. It's wild that this is remotely controversial to some people.

This opens up space for “Auric,” a spin-off that traces the rise of Goldfinger while also doing a Wire-like deep dive into the sociology and political economy of gold markets. Five seasons, eight episodes each. James Bond is never mentioned .

You mean you’re not waiting on pins and needles for twelve episodes of “Odd,” the epic story of a young boy from Hong Kong and how he became a novelty sidekick in one of the most overrated Bond movies?

If you’re genuinely interested in summoning it, there’s more Tecumseh Sherman energy in the DSA rank-and-file than in Democratic electeds.
