I saw an infographic a couple years ago about how to remove source identifiers from links and why it's important, but I can't find it again and too many people I know are sending me links with them so here's an infographic straight from the oven
Header text: "HEY YOU! YES YOU! TAKE THIS SHIT OUT OF LINKS!" This is followed by a couple example urls, with a red square highlighting the sections with source identifiers. The rest of the text is as follows: Source identifiers are used to track your activity on a site. Where you came from, what device you use, and even who you talk to. Whether it's written clearly in the url or tied to a random string of characters, it's assigned to your activity. When you send a link containing a source identifier to somebody and they click it, it signals to the website that you two are connected. And that data goes right back to the website operators, and thus their advertisers. Whenever you select "share" or "copy link" on a social app or website, it creates a link like this. If you give even the smallest shit about online privacy, it's important to remove them. Everything after the "?" symbol can be removed without issue, especially sections starting with "si=" or "utm_source="

Anti Censorship Cheat Sheet Why? Visa, Mastercard, Stripe and Paypal have been censoring free speech and legal business on the internet for too long. Their most recent targets are Steam and Itch.io, but they have also been pressuring websites like Pixiv, Patreon, Fansly, Onlyfans and more for years, applying draconian standards for what kind of adult/pornographic content platforms and their users can host and sell. If we as consumers and creators want to regain ground on this issue, we have to make our voice heard. How? Bombard them with phone calls. Collective Shout, the organization that lobbied to have Steam and Itch.io change their TOS, did so with only around 1000 phone calls. Visa and MC have backed down from pressuring Onlyfans to remove adult content entirely due to public backlash. Clogging their phone lines for an extended period, over a month at the absolute least, will almost guarantee that these companies will at least have to pay attention to the backlash. This list is not exhaustive, but some contact points for the 4 targets are: Visa US/Canada: +1-800-847-2911 US option selection for operator: 1-1-2 or 1-1-3 Mastercard US: +1-800-307-7309 US option selection for operator: 1-1-2-2-2-1 Phone (outside US): 1-636-722-7111 Stripe Headquarters: +1-888-963-8955 France: +33-805-11-19-67 Email: complaints@stripe.com Paypal US: +1-888-221-1161 Outside US: 1-402-935-2050 Customer Service: +1-877-569-1116 Try to hit all 4 targets per day. This is only going to have an effect if as many people as possible call every day as long as possible. This is a marathon, not a race. If you can, it is also a good idea to try to spread the word to organizations and groups that can either actively combat these huge companies legally, or can spread news, in a manner supportive of this movement, more effectively than your average person.

If you're looking for a gdocs-like replacement, Ellipsus @ellipsus-writes is an explicitly queer friendly, anti-AI equivalent with online syncing and sharing - I've been using it for almost a year now as a replacement for gdocs and absolutely love it. They are pro-fanfic, so much so that they have a dedicated "export to Ao3" option that preserves all your formatting. They don't have an app (yet) but you can add it to your home screen via your mobile browser if you want.

Itch's new content policy is:

1. We can't tell you what violates the rules.

2. If you violate the rules, we take all your money. Not just the money from that work, ALL your money from EVERYTHING you've ever made.

I don't care how much of a smol bean Itch is, this is not a viable platform.
It’s almost impossible to come up with an exhaustive list of unacceptable products to sell, so often we have to take content reviews one at a time. If an issue arises with your account that isn’t already covered by our policy, then we will contact you and share what options you may have. If you've collected money while in violation of terms, we may be forced to refund or freeze all pending transactions, as accounts that are in violation of our terms are not eligible for payouts.
