Would you rather have good access to destinations by transit or by car? In a study of real estate prices across Canada, @higgicd.bsky.social and team found that despite the ubiquity of cars, good *transit* access is a bigger driver of housing prices than good car access. 🧵

Well, I owe the Detroit People Mover an apology. While I may have used it as an example of failed transit-as-revitalization projects and snickered at its one-way loop, I made something like 10 trips using the DPM last week at the #AAG2025 and it was great fun.

Meanwhile, in other developed nations, transit construction costs have stayed lockstep with the rate of inflation - a clear sign that project delivery practices are at fault.
