Today, choosing joy looks like purchasing both The House in the Cerulean Sea and Somewhere Beyond the Sea by TJ Klune. I’ve listened to them and they are such beautiful, joy-filled novels. They leave me feeling hopeful and don’t we all need a little more of that these days?

This book is a must-read. It helped me face some of my own cowardice, while also profoundly reframing the importance of action, even when small.

“Housing, in this view, is too precious and important to be left to the whims of the market: it is a cornerstone of both human dignity and societal well-being.”

Just finished Black AF History and can’t recommend it enough. The high level of snark is deeply appreciated amidst the hard truth.

Full 2024 reading list. Can’t recommend all of them (for my tastes!) but there were many great ones beyond the above lists

2024 Books in Review
95 books this year (13 books/82 audiobooks)
The chart generated by storygraph that shows the moods of the books I read over the course of the year feels a little too telling.

Then I review their work and provide written feedback (lots of people do verbal but I’ve found it doesn’t work for me so much). I go on their learning tracker and change attempted to: accomplished, progressing, or retry.

I’m sad to say goodbye to biking season this year, but excited about 790km in our first 7 months of owning our cargo e-bike. Many great memories and so many hours enjoying being outside! I look forward to keeping up with #ottBike this winter and getting tips to perhaps extend my ride next year.

This book. Wow. Easily one of the most beautiful I’ve read in recent years. The audiobook is narrated by the author, Abraham Verghese, and it is fabulous. The Covenant of Water is worth the 31 hour listen.

Love that I’m part of the community of people who read What you are looking for is in the library by Michiko Aoyama, then searched online to try to buy or make Honeydome cookies, only to discover through Reddit that they were made up. Reading is awesome.
