I'm a fan of Star Trek, Star Wars and Doctor Who, among other things. I'm mostly just posting Virtual Photography on here at the moment, but might get more talkative as I get more settled on bsky.
Alas, they'll only ever greenlight Kirk/Spock stuff because "iconography".

I still think there's room for worldbuilding in the Kelvin Timeline that doesn't need to hinge on the Enterprise and its crew. I think examining the long-term implications of the loss of Vulcan on the Federation and their 120 years advance-knowledge of the Romulan supernova could be fascinating.

It's when there's an extra bridge, isn't it? 😉😂

The concept art for the Dragonfly-type shuttles from the cancelled 2000s “Final Frontier” cartoon looked *a bit* X-Wing ish, but honestly looks closer to the Babylon 5 Starfury craft imo. But, it does make me think a Starfleet style X-Wing *could* work, it’d just be a challenge.

Remembered I did a similar idea back when I was running a 'gimmick account' about silly nonexistent Star Trek episodes, albeit as a single Voyager episode with Angela Lansbury guest-starring as a holodeck-recreation of JB Fletcher. Also, this comment from a like-minded Trekkie 🖖💛

Heck it doesn’t even have to be Star Trek, just a detective show with Tim Russ as the lead. lmk if such a thing already exists.

All in all though, I'm very excited to play the full game. Just playing the demo has put me on a real 'Voyager' kick and I've started rewatching the show, which has been a surprise -- It's definitely the Star Trek show I revisit the least, so I'm enjoying actually doing so for a change.

Looks like it might be worth multiple playthroughs to see the long-term effects of different choices, BUT, it also appears that there'll be no manual save-states, so this would mean replaying the entire thing from scratch, could get annoying if you want to change a season 7 decision for example.

That said, struggling to stay on top of resources is exactly the kind of thing I'd expect from a game retelling Voyager, as the frequent lip-service to resource issues without it ever actually mattering is one of the more common criticisms of the show, so fair enough if it does stay difficult.

There's a nice balance of resource management, exploration, narrative decision-making & a touch of space combat.
Resource management might be a touch difficult considering I was struggling to keep atop fuel when the demo is of the TUTORIAL!, but this may also be rebalanced yet (or maybe I suck😅)

Did get a bit of input lag, but that's not an issue with the kind of game this is; a mild frustration when advancing dialogue can take a few clicks, but otherwise not going to be a detriment. Possibly also just teething issues with the current stage of development that may get fixed pre-launch.

it'd go miles to making the whole thing more immersive.
Additionally, I for one would be fine with them hiring impression artists if the actual Voyager stars are too expensive or otherwise unavailable. The game is just kinda... quiet at the moment with no voices.

That said, my first choice for 'STO-original Klingon ship that could pass for a 32nd Century era ship' would have been the Qib. Always thought this one looked out of place in the 25th century and honestly would look at home alongside something like the Friendship or Merian.

Perhaps, but assuming I'm even right and its not coincidentally something that happens to look similar in this one quick shot, there are options, like it being a recovered 25th century relic. But I also feel the Qehpu' is both niche enough and different enough that it could survive such a retcon.

That's interesting. I'd assumed they were scripted, since one of the devs (don't remember who) mentioned in the stream on Tuesday that Thomas was meticulous with which ships should be there. 🤔 Does explain the random TMP era ship amongst mostly 25th century models if it picks from a pool of skins.
