Why was he deselected though?

I think the anon opinion is probably more about the political comment section than the 'fluff'.

That's definitely my main beef with them. I can't donate knowing I'm funding the salary of Rafael Behr or Polly Toynbee.

That's exactly what I'm saying
November 18, 2025 at 12:12 PM
Yeah agreed. I'm talking about a post election coalition rather than a pact not to stand candidates against each other.
November 18, 2025 at 12:08 PM
Ok. Do you agree with the rest?

Also:
- the electorate doesn't seem to like coalitions, why make it a key line?

- it opens the Lib Dems to all the same political attack lines the Greens will get, and vice versa

- a Green party official isn't going to unilaterally make overtures because they'd be giving away leverage

I think it would be tacitly understood as a likely outcome, but I don't see the advantage of it being an official line. For one thing, if you end up in a situation where one of the two can be kingmaker without the other, then the idea of a coalition falls apart.

I can see obvious benefits to a pact to not stand opposing candidates. Though I believe Ed when he says the LDs are not trustworthy enough to make that work.
My point was about discussing your potential coalition partners. Why would you do that?
November 18, 2025 at 10:58 AM
This seems a bizarre question. There's any number of reasons why it's a really bad idea to announce before an election who your coalition partners would be. That's why it's virtually never done. Why should the current Greens be any different?

Pathetic milquetoast shit. Enjoy the next three years in your jobs. That's all you've got.

For an American who thinks outsiders aren't allowed opinions about America, he seems to have a lot of opinions about the UK

I'm not defending the 'outrage cycle' of modern media, but it's such a well documented phenomenon that I find it hard to believe it didn't occur to the author of the piece. So one has to question the reasons for choosing to emit it, and whether the article is really in good faith.

No one is getting cancelled or losing their job for criticising the UAE. No one is going on the news to call the ban on Russia in international sport racist, or demand that we allow Russian football hooligans into the UK.
When people see these things it makes them angry, and that fuels interest.

Some people say racists have no sense of humour, but this is actually gold. Fair play Ronny.

Ok, and is the position of our government towards the two genocidal regimes, China and Israel, broadly similar?

Isn't that ogre Swettyman in Penn refusing to endorse him?

An unintended consequence of price comparison sites. You can't sell anything if you're not the cheapest on there, and you can't be the cheapest without making your price so low that you'll lose money. So the only way to turn a profit is to cheat customers.

Who are you getting off the backbenches to replace them though? The only MPs with any integrity have been drummed out and the new intake are all briefcase wankers hands selected by McSweeney and co

It's insane that people are trying to cast Khan as some kind of socialist zealot. The man is a milquetoast centrist liberal who has governed cautiously. He just happens to also be a Muslim which they can't stand.
