A fabulous Sunday afternoon spent reading The Game I Will Never Forget by Onjali Q. Raúf for @sparkbookaward.bsky.social. Quite a tome but full of humour and brilliant characters. I raced through it and finished with a tear and a smile. #KidLitUK #UKKidLit

Hard to ignore Herbert and Violet from Eerie-on-Sea but thought of a few others that are slightly more unusual friendships.

Obviously immediately thought of 2 others! Quirky but fascinating.

I totally agree that it is impossible to select just 4! Have stuck with 8 for now. #NNFN

My Sunday has mainly consisted of a beautiful walk and another fantastic book for @sparkbookaward.bsky.social - the morning in Kew Gardens which is always special at this time of year and the afternoon solving The Big Bad Wolf Murder by @pgbellwriter.bsky.social! #KidLitUK #UKKidLit

A day late but I’ve just finished this one. You should definitely not read it but anyone who likes to be terrified by a book with nightmarish monsters would love it! Gorgeously creepy cover and illustrations inside by @gristledank.bsky.social @rocktheboatnews.bsky.social

I was a huge Red Dwarf fan so very excited to pick up Sin Bin Island by @dougrdnaylor.bsky.social for the @sparkbookaward.bsky.social #LongList. Despite it being on the chunky side, I have raced through it today - a quirky adventure and full of his trademark wit and imagination. #UKKidLit #KidLitUK

I’ve discovered I quite like a bit of gentle scariness! Lucy Strange does it really well and would recommend any of her books. Lockwood & Co is a brilliant series that Netflix sadly cancelled. For gothic horror, loved the quirky Fledgling and most recently Dracula & Daughters. #KidLitUK #UKKidLit

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I picked up Wood: Taller, Older, Wiser by Tanya Turner but the beautiful cover by Blanka Szonda invited me in. So glad it did because I’ve just finished a lovely story with a tear in my eye.

Having read all The Famous Five books over and again as a child it was great to catch up with them again. @itschrissmith.bsky.social has done a spiffing job with a contemporary adventure on Kirrin Island. @hodderbooks.bsky.social @sparkbookaward.bsky.social #Longlist #UKKidLit #KidLitUK

A lovely way to relax - a beautiful walk in Richmond Park and another book for @sparkbookaward.bsky.social I feel so lucky to live near so many fantastic green spaces! It makes such a difference to my mood spending time outside. #HalfTerm

Half term has brought time to read and I’m excited to have received a pile of books for the @sparkbookaward.bsky.social longlisting. I’ve started with Inkbound: Meticulous Jones and the Skull Tattoo by @prleathley.bsky.social - the first in a brilliant new fantasy series. #UKKidLit #KidLitUK

I was in a slump with a run of morose adult books so it was discovering the quality of MG fiction. I started with these four magical books and I haven’t looked back since! I would go with something that involves me emotionally like The Dawn of Adonis or The Wrong Shoes.

No social media at school. By the time I get home, most of my favourites have been mentioned already! I couldn’t see these though and have probably missed several others. #KidLitUK #KidsBooksFriday

I know it isn’t Friday any more but for some reason this was still buzzing around my head. Four more for the list!

Just finished Ink Girls by @mariekeyn.bsky.social which I picked up after it was recommended by @mariannedoherty.bsky.social. A brilliant and hopeful book that celebrates truth, diversity and the power of words. Beautifully illustrated by Sylvia Bi. #GreenWillowBooks @harpercollins.bsky.social

It was a stressful first week back - trying to find missing deliveries, moving the resource room to another building, parent communication software broken etc. - so this was just what I needed. Another brilliant sci-fi adventure from @alastairc.com @barringtonstoke.bsky.social #KidLitUK #UKKidLit
