That's all I have so far. I'll be looking again tonight, and every night until I'm sure it's either gone or until i get good telescope pictures. Cross your fingers we get a clear SW sky tonight 🤞

This app shows my sister that Saturn isn't anywhere close to where "Saturn" is. Wtf? The clouds don't clear enough to see "Saturn" until later that night when I'm on my own. It's not there. Fake Saturn appears to be gone completely. Maybe there is a cloud in front of it I can't see?

12/26 - my sister and I are playing with my new telescope. We've got light cloud coverage, but the company that manufactured the telescope has it's own app that helps you navigate to sky objects without the need for wifi or phone signal.

12/25 - we have light cloud coverage and I cannot see "Saturn". I did not check my app.

When I try, my phone only shows "Saturn" when I'm zoomed out. As soon as I zoom in even a little, it's gone from my screen. I keep trying things over and over until I get annoyed and abandon the task all together. I know I'm getting a new telescope for Christmas, so I'll try again in a few days.

It dissappears off my screen. It's still in the sky, my little telescope is locked on, but the phone screen shows nothing when I point my camera through the eye piece. Ok, fine, I'll take more pictures without the telescope.

It's not really bigger, and there's no extra detail. I went to get my glasses... still not better. The edges are better defined, so i decide to take a picture of it through the telescope.

Sky Tonight still said I was looking at Saturn. It takes a while to get the little telescope locked in (it's a fun, but fiddly) but once I do, I quickly notice it doesn't look any different than when I look with my naked eye.

12/23 - I went outside with my little telescope to get a clearer view of "Saturn". (Picture below from our security camera with time stamp to show you how cute I am.) "Saturn" was still insanely bright and in the same general location as the night before (SW).

I've had some hiccups with the app before, but not to this level. Eventually it corrected itself (I thought) and showed Saturn lining up with what I was seeing. Awesome! Mystery solved, I went to bed excited to take out my small telescope the next night and investigate a little more.

That resulted in the pictures above. I'm not surprised they look kinda of weird bc I'm maxed out on zoom. I use an app called Sky Tonight to identify sky things, but for the first 15 minutes or so the app wasn't showing me anything that bright in that location.

How could I not have seen whatever this is? It's so bright! I took pictures and spent some time messing with my phone camera settings.

12/22 - husband was standing on the front porch, and went to walk past him and go inside. I stopped in my tracks bc I saw a bright "star" that I hadn't noticed before. Odd bc I'm taking at least a quick look at the sky every night.

...I took these pictures and i believed it to be Saturn. There's a little more to the story that I'm going to tell now, and you can tell me what you think.

5. Every single thing we do is done in love. Everything. The way we run our hub catches the eye of the best people our County has to offer, and you can feel it radiating from wherever they are gathered. There's no religion, no hoops to jump through, just raw humanity. I love my (unpaid) job.

4. Board members have the freedom to start their own programs or host their own events. The only time they need clearance from the group is when they're planning to use store resources. Other than that, if it aligns with our mission, it's a green light.

3. Low-to-no hierarchy. As a Board, we think of our responsibilities in more of a "zone defense" sort of situation. We each have stronger influence in our areas of responsibility, but there is no "Boss". Decisions are made via consensus.

2. We don't lock volunteers into schedules and commitments. Everyone who volunteers at the free store knows that volunteer opportunities are always invitations, never obligations. Lower pressure = higher participation. I can talk about this part all day, but we'll move on.

1. There is no means testing. We don't care what you make or where you live bc need can never be measured solely by income and living outside of our town doesn't stop you from being our neighbor. We always help our neighbors.

Matt Lee from AP thanked Patel for his efforts at transparency at the start of the briefing and I felt ill.
